Be encouraged and equipped by Pastor Don MacLafferty, who will remind us of the importance of fulfilling the Gospel Commission—beginning with our first mission field: the home. The Biography of Presenters

Olethea Phoenix dela Cruz Daquila
Olethea Phoenix dela Cruz Daquila, affectionately known as Onyx, is a 15-year-old homeschooled student from a missionary family, devoted to a life of faith and service. With a deep love for Jesus, she expresses her passion through music, art, writing, and public speaking. Onyx began her music ministry at just 2 years old and has since shared her gifts in a wide range of venues—including churches, hospitals, schools, and even correctional facilities.
In 2024, by the incredible grace of God, Onyx earned both local and international recognition in piano and voice, receiving top honors in competitions across the Philippines, New York, London, and the UK. A gifted communicator, she has also been preaching and writing since the age of 7. By 12, she became a published author with her debut book, Nature’s Secret Treasures. Through her creative pursuits and ministry, Onyx seeks to touch hearts, inspire lives, and bring others closer to God.
Onyx will use her gifts and passion to help young children walk through with selected 28 Fundamental Beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Linda Koh
Linda Koh, PhD, is retired Children’s Ministries Director of the General Conference, who faithfully served until July 2022. Originally from Singapore, Dr. Koh holds a Ph.D. in Education and had been teaching for many years before she was called by the church to serve at the union, division, and the General Conference.
Her passion for discipling children has remained strong—even in retirement, she continues to minister through her teaching and mentoring with dedication and love. We praise God for her 19 years of humble, impactful service in leading Children’s Ministries at the global level.

Karen Pelote
Karen Pelote, CNM, MSN, is a full-time missionary in the East-Central Africa Division. She began as a nurse at Maxwell Adventist Academy during the COVID-19 crisis and now serves at the Division’s Media Center, producing health programs.
With a background in education and midwifery, Karen also served at a women’s health center in Washington, D.C. She’s currently pursuing a PhD in Public Health at the Adventist University of Africa, continuing her mission to educate and serve through Christ-centered care.

Oemer Rey Daquila
Oemer Rey Daquila, the Advancement Director at the Adventist University of the Philippines, where he leads efforts to advance the mission of Christian education. His wife, Wendell Daquila, is a dedicated homemaker and has homeschooled their only daughter, Onyx, for the past 15 years.
Together, Oemer and Wendell share a deep passion for Family Ministries, with a special focus on intentional parenting and mentoring young people in areas of relationships and purity. By God’s amazing grace, they are committed to nurturing Christ-centered homes and making a lasting impact for His kingdom.

Nilde Itin
Nilde Itin is Associate Director for Children’s Ministries at the General Conference since November 2023. Originally from Argentina, Nilde holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education. Her journey in ministry has taken her across South America, as well as South and Northeast Asia—where she has faithfully served in various roles.
Nilde is passionate about leading children to know Jesus and live lives full of worship, purpose, and joy—both now and for eternity. She loves working alongside her family and others who share her heart for children’s discipleship.

Orathai Chureson
Orathai Chureson, PhD, is Director of Adventist Children’s Ministries, originally from Thailand. She holds a master’s degree from Andrews University and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from AIIAS.
Before joining the General Conference, she served eight years in Children’s and Family Ministries for the Southern Asia-Pacific Division and led the Ministerial Spouses Association.
With over 14 years in education and 9 years in ministries, Orathai has contributed through teaching, writing, translating materials, and training leaders worldwide.
